Just like you, I’ve navigated the challenges of C-section recovery.

A decade ago, I found myself facing an emergency C-section—a moment that shook my confidence and left me feeling lost. The physical recovery was one thing, but the emotional toll was another. I felt disconnected from my body, ashamed of my appearance, and unsure how to heal. As a manual practitioner, I thought I should’ve known what to do.

Still, the truth is that none of us are taught how to recover mentally or physically after a C-section. I hid in baggy clothes and avoided mirrors, and intimacy felt like a distant memory. The overwhelming feeling of failure and isolation was constant.

At three months postpartum, I went back to work, but I felt like a fraud. I was preaching self-care to my clients while putting myself last. The reality hit me: I reacted to symptoms without addressing the root cause.

If I had back pain? I’d get a massage. If I was feeling ashamed of my body? I’d hide it. Did I talk about my birth? No, I avoided it because people would tell me, “At least you and the baby are safe.” It wasn’t until I realized that my power and control had been taken from me during the birth and I hadn’t addressed the trauma that I began my true recovery journey.
